So November is already here! Can you believe it!!??!?! This year has flown by so quickly. But with November being here, it got me thinking about my new year’s outfit! Ha ha ha, seems like I’m in a hurry for this year to be over. So not true or maybe? I’m anticipating great new things in the new year. I came across these beautiful items on Pinterest. And I thought, this outfit would be perfect for the new year’s celebration service (I figured I can get away with wearing a Tulle skirt at New Years – maybe…lol). Not sure how great this would actually look on me, but I would love to have these things. Lol…Have you thought about your new year’s outfit yet? Are you following me on Pinterest yet? Follow me and I’ll follow you, we can share inspirational modest finds. J
This skirt is absolutely cute. I would take off the bow to wear it with the ruffle sweater above. A good evening/fancy party look which you can't always pull off for Sunday service, which is why I'm thinking new years. LOL....I think I could make a skirt like this maybe with less thickness.
And for shoes, I like these! to go with the outfit!! :)
So this is what I have planned to re-create an outfit. Wish me luck. This may or may not happen. lol...At least I already have similar shoes. A girl can dream right?!?!

“You cannot limit the power of your modesty to just what you wear. It’s also controlled or forfeited by where you are willing to go with guys, when you go there and how you act. I bet you can think of girl who’s reputation as a flirt precedes her. Perhaps, she does not dress to show off the secrets of her beauty, but the way she invades a guy’s personal space or flirts with him issues an unspoken challenge concerning her sexuality”
Aint that the truth? A girl can be dress perfectly modestly but if inside of her she does not carry a modest spirit (or struggles in this area), that will go to show in her character and actions! Be careful that your actions are truly reflective of who you are trying to represent on the outside. Some things may not seem to be “bad” per say but they can certainly lead to things we would never expect if we are not careful in the way we act or where we go with men, even church men. Proverbs 14:12 -"There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death."

So today, I just want to be real.
You know how sometimes you find a skirt, dress or even a cute shirt that is 1) is absolutely gorgeous 2) Unique in every way 3) ON SALE! Then you go to try it on and, dun, dun, dun, it fits toooo skin tight or toooo short, however, it looks really great on you because your beautiful lady figure is showing. C’mon ladies, we know we are beautiful. It’s almost so tempting to buy it, so everyone can see how gorgeous we really look. It’s something in human nature to “show off” what we’ve got. But that’s when Jesus comes in. His spirit in us, shows us that it’s not about us, but about honouring him. He helps all that pride and vanity in us dissipate. However, it’s true, sometimes our human nature kicks in and we are tempted into wearing things that are immodest.
What I wanted to express with this post is that, yes we are girls who love God and want to please him in every way, but we can be real and say that there will be times in which we will be tempted to lower our standards, because we live in a “low standards” world! However, always, always, always, think twice before you go ahead and do something you will regret! Sometimes it will just be out of frustration that we can hardly find clothing that is suitable for our needs and we will go with whatever we find “half-decent” out of frustration. But there are ways to work around making things “half-decent” - decent and look absolutely great modestly.

Dressing Modestly Since:
Since I can remember, but I went thru some darks days. My high school years were not my greatest, it wasn’t until my senior year (grade 12) that I made up my mind to be either hot or cold and not warm just like the bible says, I didn’t want to be spit out by God. So I can say that since 2007 was when I made up my mind to follow God completely and dress modestly and even though sometimes I struggle, I have a great support system! My hubby and my wonderful Mother. And what I mean by struggle is by constantly making sure that this shirt doesn’t show too much, or this skirt isn’t too short... and sometimes trying to make it all work can be a challenge but it’s possible... :)
Anything you want to share about modesty:
The other day I was looking at some pictures on my Facebook and I was just sadden/angry/annoyed/etc. (I don’t know if u can feel all those feelings at once) but I think it was mostly disappointment. I was disappointed because of the lack of Modesty I see in some Christian Girls, it’s either that they just don’t care about being modest OR the elders are not teaching it! Both things disappoint me. I know for some it’s a new concept or it’s simply a struggle because of lack of knowledge but there are others who know the importance of Modesty but they simply just don’t care. I encourage you to CARE! Modesty is essential in a girl/lady's life and speaks to others about the God we serve, it is important that all ladies understand that and that the elders (the older generation) keep teaching modesty and inspiring the younger generation to follow the modesty principles found in scripture. In every aspect, in the way we speak, walk, dress, act, etc... it’s a lifestyle... I know it is not always easy because it’s hard to find clothes that suits our modesty standards but is not impossible. We are the King’s daughters, that makes us princesses. If you look at how princesses in the world dress, they always have a certain level of modesty which they follow, even if they are not Christian but they do it because of who they represent, a Royal family. We represent the King above all Kings. Lets stand by what we believe and not let others tell us otherwise. Modesty Rocks!!!
I enjoy crafting and good music. My hubby is a crazy musician so there’s music going on in my house all the time. Art and music are part of my life. Even our 3 month old baby enjoys our craziness... All for the glory of God!

Both skirts we are wearing are from my shop. May I say, it’s such an privileged for me when I see the ladies wearing things from The Modesty Walk Shop! I’m honoured to serve them in this way. The skirt Becky is wearing was a short plain jean skirt and I customized it by adding those beautiful ruffles! This is actually something you could do yourself too with a little creativity to make those shorter skirts a little bit longer, or of course, if you don’t have the patience or time to deal with sewing, you could always bring them by the shop for me to do some alterations. I find it so fun to see the end results and so fun trying to figure out which fabric & sewing technique would look best. It’s great to let your mind go wild sometimes. Lol….The skirt that I am wearing I made out of some beautiful Knit material. I must admit, it was a challenge when I got 2 other orders for the same skirt, but I’m happy with the results and the customers were happy too!
Stop by the Facebook shop some time, I list a few new items every week, any suggestions you may have are welcome as well! New contest coming up soon too. : )

It may seem like you are alone when no one else around you believes in what you do and sometimes you might question is all this “BE THE LIGHT” stuff really worth it? I can say, YES and also, remind you as the Lord reminded Elijah, you are not alone. When everyone else bowed to Baal and it seemed like only Elijah had enough zeal to follow the One True God and His commandments, the Lord spoke words of encouragement to him.
“So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”And he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; because the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life. Then the LORD said to him: “Go, return on your way to the Wilderness of Damascus; ….. Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.”1 Kings 19:13-15
Elijah felt alone, because He had concentrated on what he saw in front of him. What he didn’t see were those 7000 in Israel who had not bowed down to Baal and where Zealous of the Lord’s commandments as well! Aside from Jesus, who fills our loneliness, Elijah had brethren whom he did not see, but were also zealously serving the Lord and not Baal, He wasn’t alone! Let me remind you ladies, you are not alone. If you ever need encouragement to go on, find your brethren, mentors, counsellors in Christ and you will see you are not alone. Someone has already gone through what you are going through and the Lord let them go through it, to be an aid for your time of need.
Stand true to your faith, to your convictions, to modesty. Be the light, be different, spread the Gospel with everything you are. Represent the most High with honor and dignity and you will be rewarded in ways you could never repay.

Today I wanted to share a little bit of my style with an outfit and hairdo I wore recently. I just travelled to B.C. to my brother’s wedding. It was a very nice wedding, and I really enjoyed my time there, meeting some really great people! So I had an outfit planned out to wear for the wedding but I didn’t “Love It”, so as soon as I got to B.C. we went to do some shopping with my mother. I really enjoy shopping with my mother. : ) Anyway, so I was able to pick up this simple but nice little number, it was fun!
What I Wore:
This hairdo was pretty easy to do! I was looking for some inspiration on Pinterest and found this picture! And then I also saw a video which you can find on this great blog "The Pentecostal LookBook" here, on how to do a sockbun, I had done this type of bun before, but never came out so clean looking! The sock bun is a great invention!!! And most of all this hairdo only took me 1 hour to do (that’s pretty short if you ask me for long hair – Straighten and Style). Quick and Easy. I did originally want the bun to be higher like in the inspiration picture, but it didn’t work out, next time, I shall do it higher though for sure.

Dressing Modestly since: About a Year ago
Anything you want to say about modesty:
I began to dress modestly approximately one year ago but it was not from one day to the next. Honestly, I still struggle with modesty every now and then. But if you knew me back then you would say I have come a long way. It's taken me a long journey to find out what is pleasing to God. I say long because I came to the feet of Jesus in 1996, I was 22. At that time I fell in love with Jesus and even began to reflect it in the way I dressed, naturally. Prior to that, it was all about being sexy. I did not grow up in a Christian home, I grew up with parents who would dress up sexy and go to parties. Parents who permed their hair with afros when that was in style LOL. Back to 1996, my modest dress didn't last long and neither did my church attendance. I was lured back into the world, but this time with the knowledge of a powerful and living God. I mean, I have always prayed to Jesus since I was a little girl but in 1996 was when He became real to me. Even though I was lured back into the world, I never did forget Him and still He did not forget me. My story is long but I will say that today, I know He has never left nor forsaken me and all I want to do is to abide in Him, to please Him, to be used by Him. It is the only place I want to be. The world has nothing to offer me....NOTHING! He has heard and answered my prayers. One of them being, to show me how to be a true Christian, a true follower....and that was when He led me to my present church where they not only "say" they love Him but "show" Him they love Him. I will never forget the first day I visited my church. From the moment I walked in I knew that God led me to the church of the early Christians. I felt God's presence like never before in a church and what I saw was pure and holy....God's people, a set apart people. You know, before I was led to this church I had done a little research about the early Christians because I knew that the early Christians were the true followers. He is truly amazing and faithful!! These verses have been engraved in my heart. "If you love me, you will keep my commandments". "Be holy, because I am holy". They convict me when I struggle with modesty. I am not anywhere near where I feel I should be, but one day it will all come so natural to me as I continue to fall deeper and deeper for Him. I am hoping that the day will come when "my beloved" will say "unto me, rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away. For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; the fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away". Song of Solomon 2:10-13
I have noticed that since I have been dressing modestly people have seen a change in me. Some like the change and some just can't get used to it LOL...but I am here to only please Him. I've been told that I have joy, peace, that I look so beautiful and that I look so Christian. People are careful not to swear around me. I get smiles from strangers on the street from both men and women. When in the past, men would look at me lustfully and women would give me the evil eye. I find that my effort to dress modestly has humbled me. "Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will lift you up". What a beautiful place to be :).
Thanks to the modest women at my church, especially the young ladies. You have all been an inspiration in my life. I thank God for you! You are truly daughters of the King! Thanks to my beautiful sister Natalie for asking me to be a part of this amazing blog even though I am new at this modesty walk. May God bless you IMMENSELY for your love and faithfulness to Him. Last but not least I thank Jesus my Lord and Saviour, my everything. I am nothing without you! I love you.

Today I just want to tell you that you are beautiful.
You are beautiful because, you are a princess of the One true living God. You are beautiful because the Creator spent time on you. You are beautiful because you fear and follow the commandments of the Lord. You are beautiful because you allow the Word of the Lord to speak to you and mold you, even when it hurts. You are beautiful because, you influence others in a positive way without even knowing it! You are beautiful because you don’t follow the patterns and ways of the World, but rather those of his Holy Book. You are beautiful because His spirit Dwells in you. You are beautiful because the sweetness of your words can turn pain into comfort. You are beautiful because you love even when you are not loved in return. You are beautiful because you don’t return hate with hate. You are beautiful because you dress your soul and body as royalty should dress, in representation of the Greatest King. You are beautiful, don’t doubt it at all. No other beauty compares to the one that lies within you, it is so great, it shines outwardly!Beauty is not physical, true beauty comes from within, believe that. Dressing cute, nice, modest and all that jazz is fun and important, but let’s never forget that it all comes within to be expressed outwardly. Remember to always work on your inner beauty and let the Lord lead on our Character, conduct and mannerisms. That with each passing day, we can allow him to beautify our inner dress so that it reflects outwardly, who truly dwells in our hearts. A very good Treasure!
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”
“Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.”

Ministries: I sing in the church band & I am a sunday school teacher. : )
Anything you want to say about modesty: I love it!! Not only does it make you look beautiful, unique, different from the world but it is one of the things that truly pleases God. Modesty is one of the most important things in my life because it’s something that speaks to the world that there is something different in us as His children, The way we dress usually speaks for us, it is what makes us stand out! And if we serve a living God why not reflect it in the way we dress as well!? I love trying to dress modestly because I want to do my best to please God, and modesty is always a start! It’s also helped me a lot to spread God’s word to friends when they have asked me why I dress the way I do, it’s a great way to start a conversation! I really do encourage modesty, It's beautiful, unique and set's us apart from the world. : )

A while ago I was watching some videos that were filmed during service for our church Youtube channel, for those who don’t know me, I’m the Worship leader at our church. I love the band, they are so awesome, it’s such a privileged to work with them, such a God-loving and talented team. Okay enough bragging, but I just love them, thank God for them, etc. Ha ha……As I was watching I realized that yes, sometimes, I do move a whole lot during praise. LOL…well I already knew this, but it’s another thing to look at yourself. Aside from thinking how funny I looked, as I was watching, I realized how important it is to keep modesty in mind when you are going to be ministering at the altar or even just praising at the bench! But I guess when you are at the Altar, there are more eyes on you. Some of the things I was doing I was like, if I was wearing a skirt above the knee or even just at the knee, I might have shown something I didn’t want to show! Or even if I was wearing a shirt that would rise up too high when I was lifting my hands or opened too wide if I happened to bend during worship (yes I do crazy stuff…I didn’t even know!) I might accidently show more than I ever intended to show! So this made me be more aware of what I choose to wear when I worship. I started thinking, I don’t want my clothing to stop me from worshipping with freedom but I don’t want to be showing stuff my brothers & sisters don’t need to see! So if my skirt is too short or my shirt is going to be an issue, than I just won’t wear it for service OR I will pin things in place, if that’s all it takes! I can’t let anything stop me from giving to God what’s rightfully His, my unchained praise! If what I’m wearing is going stop me in anyway, I thought, that becomes somewhat of an idol, because we are putting that before God. If we are aware our clothing could look immodest when we are jumping, waving our hands, etc., so we stop praising freely because of that, then, in my humble opinion, we shouldn’t wear those clothing items. We go to church to praise the Lord of Lords! We need to take advantage of that time to the max and not let anything stop us.
So anyway, I wanted to share my little story with you, maybe it’s something you never thought about but it may be something important to think about. Maybe do a little practice praise at home, in front of a mirror with your outfit to see how you would look in church. I know it sounds funny, but sometimes, these funny things, cause save us some embarrassment later! I know it has definitely for me. Oh Lord. Make sure your heart is ready and your wardrobe is ready for the Pentecostal parties ahead!
And this is a pic of me eating the microphone. This was a very special day in the presence of the Lord.
Picture taken by Sister Cindy. She takes pretty good pics, visit her here.

One thing we must remember and always have clear, those who are determining the latest fashions and styles are not thinking of pleasing God, but rather the human eye, which naturally desires those things which are lustful, sexy, and flaunting. It’s very rare to find a piece of clothing that you can wear on it’s on without having to add something to it to make it modest. So maybe dressing modestly (depending on your defintion of fashion!) is actually not really fashionable because, now in days the definition of fashion is more about what your showing (cleavage, tightness, shortness)! But, I can tell you this, a lady dressed modestly, can certainly look young and beautiful.
Modesty is honouring in a lady. It’s admiring that a lady can be able to cover up and still look gorgeous. A girl who can do this, can demonstrate that she is sure of herself enough to not have to show her body, to be able to be considered pretty. It’s admiring that a lady can grab someone’s attention and stand out not because of what she’s flaunting, but because her beautiful spirit is reflected in the way she speaks, conducts herself and dresses.
Don’t let magazine, T.V., social media convince you that the way you are dressing is boring and out-of-style. Modesty, will never be out of style for the Lord and for his people who desire to please Him. At this rate, soon nudity will be what’s in style and is that really even style??! Stand out and be different, don’t let that happen. Wherever we go, make it point to stand out! Let us be the Trend-setters, let us re-defined what fashion should really be about, clothing - not lack thereof. If we go to the mall, to the street, wherever we are and if we are looking pretty much like our neighbours, maybe it’s time for a wardrobe change (unless they are Apostolic too! LOL)?
Challenge: I challenge you to join the movement to re-define Fashion! Change your closet, 1 garment at a time. What can you do to Modest-fy your current wardrobe? Maybe add layers underneath or on top. Maybe add some fabrics to skirts. Maybe make skirts from pants! I challenge you to do so and post here or on our FB Group Page, how you wore something modestly! If you already dress modestly but still want to share what you do, please do so!
