The Revamped Jean Skirt

Hi ladies, I'm very excited to share with you my latest creation. It took me a few days to finish, mainly because of lack of time, but finally, I bring you this short Tutorial.

I must say I got my inspiration from Pinterest! I saw a jean skirt revamped similarly but different! Lol….If you haven’t joined The Modesty Walk on Pinterest, it’s very easy to here.

This is a really simple project, very easy! I had the old jean skirt which fit me just a tad bit shorter than my norm, so I thought, why not use this for a revamping project!

All you need is:

1) an old jean skirt or a thrifted short jean skirt
2) Ruffles material
3) Needle and thread or in turn a sewing machine

Steps:

1) I laid the skirt out on a flat surface

2) I decide where I wanted the ruffles to start on the skirt. I felt that half of the skirt looked best. Where you start the ruffles really depends on your taste! Measure how much material you will need to go around and the length you perfer as well. Cut the material accordingly leaving a little extra on the closing side for mistake wiggleroom and the ruffle effect. Instead of cutting two pieces (one for back and one for front) I just cut one big piece so the closure would be on one side only.

3) Using pins, secure the ruffle piece into place stretching it out as you pin.

4) Start sewing the ruffle piece on! I love this material, because no hemming at the bottom is required (unless you are a perfectionist!) because the ruffles cover it! On the side, instead of closing it up completely I just stitched in the middle to create more of a ruffle effect. The lovely part of this material is that it allows for mistakes, it is very forgiving!

5) I added a flower, because I love little details like that, so it’s up to you if you want to do same! To figure out how to make the flower, you can watch the youtube video from a previous tutorial post here! For the flower I used 3 ruffles in height x 24cm in length to do this size.

And now rejoice at your finished creation! Yay!

    1. Thank Sarah! But you don't really need to be a sewing expert. My machine is currently broken, so i did this by hand. It's pretty simple! Just try it out! :)
